The Dhakki Story

Dhakki is not a brand name. It is a place — a stretch of Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where a date grows heavier and softer than any commercial variety on earth. A single Dhakki fruit can pass 40 grams. Most dates sold as premium worldwide do not reach half that.

Why it only grows here

It comes down to heat, water and time: long, hot summers, a water table that suits the date palm, and a ripening window that runs later than most other varieties grown in Pakistan.

Grade is a fact, not a tier

We grade by fruit weight and moisture, measured at the farm gate on the day of picking.

  • Grade A — 40 g and above. Whole, unblemished, sold in single-layer boxes.
  • Grade B — 28 to 39 g. The same fruit, a size down. Our own preference for eating daily.
  • Baking grade — mixed weights, sound fruit. For paste, syrup and kitchens.

Moisture is checked at the grading table for every lot — too high and the fruit ferments in transit, too low and it hardens.

From palm to box

Picked by hand in the cool part of the day, carried to the grading table within hours, weighed, sorted and packed the same day. Nothing is held in cold storage between grading and dispatch during harvest season.

Fruit sold outside the picking window is from the most recent harvest, held in cold storage until dispatch.
